Papier-mâché has some very interesting qualities, at the same time being pretty tough AND fragile.  With the pieces I am listing for sale here you will notice cracks, asymettry, a general organic appearance that is purposeful.  Each one is unique.

I'm currently offering 4 death masks from my "Transition" installation, originally exhibited at "Die Wunderkammer" (the German expression for the Chamber of Wonders; a cabinet of curiosity) at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.

Each mask is a combination of gauze, paper mache, master-mache, or densite.  Some require a wall (or I use a brick) to sit up straight. Each of the death masks measure aprx 10.5" tall.

They were made in a mold that was pulled from an original and one of kind death mask.  Edgar Bomke (1932-1937 b. Berlin, Germany).  He was the first son of Dr.Hans Bomke (he worked on the atom bomb for the Americans).  Unfortunately little Edgar died of a Polio type disease and with no living relatives I've taken his death mask into my collection.
